Winter's Bounty

Thanks to a mild winter so far, Claudia's garden is still going strong. We headed over today to pick some vegetables for lunch...you can see the story in pictures below.

Mom thinks, "We can put this energy to more constructive use! Let's go to the garden."

Sulwen gets to carry the basket. Mom gets the scissors.

Going uphill with a basket as big as you are isn't easy,
so Sulwen hands it off to Mom.

Once on flatter terrain, she insists on taking it back though
and heads up the path towards the garden.

We pause for a photo moment upon entering the garden.

Yum, wild strawberries!
There was a late ripening bunch due to the heat wave we had last week.

While Mom snips away, Sulwen takes a minute to explore and discovers
she can peek-a-boo from behind a stake.

Sulwen helps to harvest too,
although she doesn't manage to get the entire leaves of chard.

Here's a NICE beet!

And in it goes to the basket with the kale, chard, and broccoli.

The dogs came too but they didn't want to come back with us right away,
so Sulwen stood at the top of the driveway with her "eeeee" dog call.

Ah, at last, Good Dog Wickie heeds the call
and comes running to meet Sulwen.
